Exercise Still life with water

Here I trying to capture the effect of objects sitting in water in the  first picture I have placed unpeeled  potatoes into a saucepan and was hoping to see some noticeable  refraction  but this was not the case only slightly  higher tonal value where  the potato was in the water.

In the second study I eggs in a bowl I have been less true to what I was observing and have tried to exaggerate the fact the the eggs have been placed in water.
